For those who don’t know, this is St John the Baptist Ukranian Greek Catholic Church in Smuts, Saskatchewan. The odd name of the town aside, it’s sort of reminds me of a photo project I wanted to do. And that’s to take photos of area churches around Outlook. Small town Saskatchewan has four places that are important to each town. The local coffee shop to catch up on all the coffee row gossip, the local hockey rink and ball diamond, the high school and the local church. Now, in the case of Outlook, there are several churches. Outlook Alliance Church, St. Andrews United Church, St. Marks Anglican Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Outlook Gospel Lighthouse, Jehovah Witness’ Kingdom Hall, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. This is more a photo journal of the buildings themselves, because I’ll expand it to include the Conquest United Church, Ardath United Church, Bounty United Church (if it’s still standing) and the Ardath Lutheran Church (which happens to be closer to Outlook than it is to Ardath).
