You know, for about 75% of the queries that come in about writing on the ask line, this really is the answer.

Things I’ve learned about writing:

• I am my own worst critic.
• When you’re finished writing, set it aside. Don’t edit right after writing, let the story simmer on the pages.
• Eat food! It helps you write.
• Don’t write in the same place.  Switch it up, write on you deck/backporch/balcony one day, then in your kitchen, then in your office, then go out to a park or coffee shop and write.
• Plan everything, be prepared to tear it all down and start from scratch.
• You will come across bouts of writer’s block.  This can also be called laziness (I know, because I’m notoriously lazy myself).
• Sit down and write.  Get the ideas on the page.  Everything else comes after.
