I know you didn’t call yourself a ‘social justice’ crusader - I called you on. I don’t really give a fuck what you’re studying at university - maybe you read some books but I actually live here and experience it. On top of that, you should fuck off with the excuse that you’re in univeristy and you’re ~educated~ when people call you out on things because, as you should know yourself based on your regular posts, you’re privileged because of that.

A quick glance at history and I found one interesting notation about the Orange Order in Canadian history.  From wikipedia:

Orangemen in western Canada helped suppress the rebellions of Louis Riel in 1870 and 1885.

From what I have read in the past, the Orange Order did have some benevolence, but only toward other Protestants.  I’ve also read (but never confirmed) that the Orange Order held some really racist views.  Which doesn’t surprise me that they’d be involved in suppressing the rebellions of Louis Riel, a man of Catholic up bringing, a French Canadian and a Metis (mix of French, Scottish, English or Irish with Cree, Mohawk, Ojibawa, Saulteux or other First Nation), who allied himself with other Metis settlers when the government (and the Orangemen) were forcing the Metis off their land that they had worked hard to maintain.

So, to anyone with more knowledge on the subject, am I correct in repeating what’s been said about the Orangemen being racist?
